Featuring from New Orleans, Maria Dixon leader of Shotgun Jazz Band on trumpet, Shaye Cohn, leader of Tuba Skinny on piano, backed by Jo Stevenson on clarinet, Chris Ludowyk on trombone, John Scurry banjo, Howard Cairns bass and Ian Smith on drums.

Maria Dixon who plays trumpet is a full-time member of two bands based in New Orleans that tour across the USA and Europe - the Shake ‘Em Up Jazz Band, an all-woman band, and the Shotgun Jazz Band of which she is the leader. Maria’s uncommon and exuberant spirit, which comes through in both her trumpet playing and spectacular singing, is so forceful that she immediately dominates any context she appears in.

Shaye Cohn, who plays most instruments used in traditional jazz, will feature on piano and trumpet. Shaye is the nominal leader of Tuba Skinny, a New Orleans based band of international reputation for the novel presentation of early jazz with a street beat. Tuba Skinny toured Australia 7 years ago. Shaye has recorded extensively with European jazz musicians both in the USA and when touring Europe.
