Anzac 2024 - Dawn Service

The Oakleigh Carnegie RSL will conduct a Dawn Service on Thursday 25th April commencing at 6am at the Cenotaph, Cnr Drummond St and Atherton Rd Oakleigh

We invite the community to join us on this very important commemorative day for our nation. By standing quietly and reflecting we say that we have not forgotten, and will not forget. We will remember the Australian and New Zealand men and women who shaped the legacy and spirit of ANZAC - endurance, courage, mateship and sacrifice - qualities that continue to have meaning and relevance for our sense of identity.

We share on this day our appreciation for all who have served in all wars, conflicts and peacekeeping operations. Importantly we acknowledge and thank all current members of our defence forces who represent our nation on a daily basis and serve still in areas of our world where they make a difference.

Following the Dawn Service, breakfast will be available at the Oakleigh Carnegie RSL club rooms, 95-97 Drummond Street Oakleigh. Our community is most welcome to join us for breakfast and remain at the club to watch the ANZAC City march.

The club will remain open for the day with our Bistro open for lunch from 12 noon - bookings can be made on 0487 958 338.

And the ANZAC Football match (Collingwood v Essendon) will be available for viewing in the afternoon.

All Star Jazz Group - One Night Only

Direct from the Australian Jazz Convention (Albury) the All Star Jazz Group will perform for one night only at Oakleigh Lounge, 95-97 Drummond St Oakleigh.

Maria Dixon who plays trumpet is a full-time member of two bands based in New Orleans that tour across the USA and Europe - the Shake ‘Em Up Jazz Band, an all-woman band, and the Shotgun Jazz Band of which she is the leader. Shaye Cohn, who plays most instruments used in traditional jazz, will feature on piano and trumpet. Shaye is the nominal leader of Tuba Skinny, a New Orleans based band of international reputation for the novel presentation of early jazz with a street beat. Tuba Skinny toured Australia 7 years ago. Shaye has recorded extensively with European jazz musicians both in the USA and when touring Europe.
